Lake Of Flies
What is the matter with all these flies?
And why’d they pick my floor to die?
Some of them appear to be embedded in the wall
And maybe it’s all in my head
But sometimes at night when I’m laying in bed
I hear these distant chimes and feel like I’m about to fall
(Chorus)
There’s a Lake of Flies
Where the Host resides
In the endless Plane of Worms
Where the worlds are thin
A rising tide comes in
& with it, other things
In the back of a magazine
Next to ads for useless things
“Psychic readings. Exorcisms. Get your fortunes told.”
She put her hands upon the walls
Hey eyes lit up like crystal balls
Then from her mouth I heard a voice both beautiful and old
(Chorus)
Now let me see if I have this straight
Inside my house there’s an invisible gate
To a realm that consists of the body of a god that’s dead and gone
& with no other place to go
All of the angels & the crows
Began to feed upon the vast expanse of flesh and bone
(Chorus)
And why’d they pick my floor to die?
Some of them appear to be embedded in the wall
And maybe it’s all in my head
But sometimes at night when I’m laying in bed
I hear these distant chimes and feel like I’m about to fall
